"We make a living by what we do but make a life by what we give."
- Winston Churchill
Thank you for your interest in volunteering!
Your hands, feet and heart can go a long way towards changing someone's life. We'd love to have your help here at CMHA-SF, and we believe your life will be changed by contributing to the aid of vulnerable people in the community. People who get involved with the CMHA-SF play a powerful role in enhancing the well-being of our community. Whether as a donor, a volunteer or an employee, your support and caring helps us improve the lives of people with mental health challenges.
Volunteers are individuals who care enough to reach out beyond their normal work and responsibilities in order to use their skills and energy to make a positive difference in the cause of their choice. Canadians have a rich history of volunteering and altruistic community involvement. From soup kitchens and fire departments to food banks and fundraisers volunteers strengthen the fabric of our society!
Studies show that regular volunteer activity can have a positive effect on mental and physical health. Volunteering with CMHA-SF provides the opportunity to build skills, learn more about mental health and meet new people, while helping build a more caring community. Because of the benefits of volunteering, we especially encourage those personally affected by mental illness to volunteer.
CMHA-SF has about 40 volunteers. If not for them, we would not be able to maintain the level or variety of services currently offered.
We'd love to have your help at the CMHA-SF, and we believe that by contributing a little of your time and skills that you will be helping a vulnerable section of the community.
